Further press releases

It's not just stars and starlets who have long sworn by hydrafacial treatments, which cleanse the face like a vacuum cleaner and supply it with nutrients. The result: beautiful skin and a radiant complexion. For an even stronger effect, "Hydrafacial 2 Go" is now coming onto the market. Dr. Murat Dağdelen, specialist in plastic and aesthetic surgery and founder and Medical Director of DiaMonD Aesthetics, explains whether, and if so why, the new version of the treatment makes our skin even more beautiful.

Hydrafacial 2 Go - what does this mean?

Dr. Dağdelen: "This is a combination of a hydrafacial and a hybrid facial treatment from the manufacturer PERK™. This consists of a facial treatment, which is carried out on site by an expert, combined with a take-home product. An active ingredient ampoule for self-application means that the immediate effect of the treatment can be maintained in the long term and easily integrated into everyday life. This is an innovative skin system that has never been available on the market in this form before."

What is so special about it?

Dr. Dağdelen: "As a rule, the skin cannot fully absorb the nutrients from skincare products. This is because the skin renews itself every 28 days - this is important and healthy on the one hand, but on the other hand dead skin cells accumulate on the skin if they are not removed regularly. The resulting clogged pores can have a negative effect on the skin's appearance. The hybrid hydrafacial combines cleansing the skin and nourishing it at the same time, without the need for many individual treatment steps. The treatment is available in three versions: for the entire face, to plump up the lips and to tighten the eye area. The fact that we can offer patients an ampoule with the nutrient complex to take home with them is an effective further development in the field of facial treatments."

How does treatment work?

Dr. Dağdelen: "During the facial treatment on site, I use a handheld device that is used both to exfoliate and to supply the skin with nutrients. This is made possible by the roller-flex technology of the ampoule, which glides over the skin - these steps only take about ten minutes in total. Immediately after this treatment, an immediate glow can be seen on the skin. In a second step, the patient receives the ampoule with the serum used to prolong the effect of the treatment on the corresponding area and repeat it daily if necessary - ideally in the morning and evening. The ampoule 2 Go also has a roller head to ensure uncomplicated application of the active skincare ingredients."

Can skin irritation occur?

Dr. Dağdelen: "In general, Hydrafacial 2 Go is suitable for all skin types. For more sensitive skin types, redness may occur briefly after the facial treatment. In order not to stress the skin too much, I recommend avoiding irritating peels in the first week.

How long does the effect last? How often should the treatment be repeated?

Dr. Dağdelen: "Ideally, the treatment should be repeated monthly to regularly renew the skin and ensure a radiant, clear complexion. The effect is prolonged by using the serum regularly after the treatment on site. Based on two applications a day, the ampoule lasts for around 30 days."

What about the costs?

Dr. Dağdelen: "In my practice, I have found that the PERK™ skin system is most effective when combined with a 'classic' Hydrafacial. The costs start at 169 euros for the Hydrafacial. For the Treatment 2 Go, the prices are 39 euros for the lips, 49 euros for the eye area and 79 euros for the hybrid facial treatment. This includes the treatment on site and the take-home ampoule."

A firm, round bottom like Brazilian samba dancers - that's the promise of the Brazilian butt lift. This is also considered attractive and particularly feminine in this country: the bigger, the better. So it's no wonder that butt augmentations are particularly popular. Because big is not just big. Dr. Murat Dağdelen, a specialist in plastic and aesthetic surgery and founder and Medical Director of DiaMonD Aesthetics, explains how the Brazilian butt lift creates a firm bottom.

"The Brazilian butt lift procedure is an effective way to achieve a permanently enlarged bottom. I can also see the success and popularity of the procedure from the increased demand in my clinic. We receive two to three inquiries about the procedure every day," says Dr. Dağdelen. A two-part surgical procedure - consisting of liposuction and lipofilling (fat injection) - is required to sculpt the size and shape of the buttocks. "The patient can expect around four hours of treatment under general anaesthetic: first, two to three liters of fat are suctioned out using the tumescent technique and specially prepared. This means that the fat in the body is first loosened and dissolved by injecting a liquid and then gently suctioned out. The extracted fat cells are then injected evenly into the buttock region using fine cannulas until the desired size and buttock shape is achieved," says Dr. Dağdelen, explaining the procedure. Basically, this procedure lifts, tightens and enlarges the buttocks - as autologous fat is a substance produced naturally in the body, there are no allergic or rejection reactions.

When carried out professionally, the Brazilian butt lift is a low-risk method, but requires aftercare that should not be underestimated: "As with any surgical procedure, swelling or bruising is possible. After the procedure, you may experience sore muscles in the buttocks and circulatory problems. However, these symptoms subside after a short time. In rare cases, fat embolisms or oil cysts occur," explains the expert. In order for the transferred fat to heal optimally, the patient should wear compression pants for two to four weeks, refrain from sport for around six weeks and allow herself a rest period. In order to exert as little pressure as possible on the treated area and thus not hinder the healing process of the fat, a sleeping position on the stomach must also be adopted for around three weeks after the buttock augmentation. Sitting should also be reduced to a minimum. "It is best for patients to take a 14-day break from work to recover from the procedure," advises Dr. Dağdelen.

The costs start at around 8,000 euros, but always vary depending on the amount of fat removed and the desired increase in volume. As two procedures are used here and the operation is quite extensive, this is also reflected in the cost intensity. Finally, the result is permanent. Dr. Dağdelen points out that patients should inform themselves extensively about the qualifications of the treating doctor in advance: "A specialist plastic surgeon title is essential for this type of treatment. Check in advance, for example, whether your doctor is a member of a specialist association for doctors, as this guarantees the quality of their work."

However, the method is not suitable for everyone, the expert emphasizes: "The Brazilian butt lift is rather unsuitable for very slim women, as they usually lack the fat reserves required for injections. In such cases, implants can be used or so-called aquafilling - a method in which a water-clear gel is injected into the buttock area to plump it up."

Beautiful, full hair is considered a sign of attractiveness - most people are therefore alarmed by the threat of hair loss. A new procedure in the fight against hair loss is the "unicorn lift". Dr. Murat Dağdelen, specialist in plastic and aesthetic surgery and founder and Medical Director of DiaMonD Aesthetics in Düsseldorf, explains what it's all about in an interview.

What is the so-called "unicorn lift"?

Dr. Dağdelen: "This is an endogenous anti-ageing agent in the form of a high-quality serum without additives, which is then injected into the scalp. The aim is to stimulate hair growth. Treatment of the face, neck or décolleté is also possible."

How does treatment work?

Dr. Dağdelen: "Blood is taken from the patient and then processed in an incubator for six hours. During this time, the cells release anti-inflammatory proteins and growth factors in high concentrations. After subsequent centrifugation, the filtered proteins are used and injected into the scalp as a natural booster using microneedles."

What effect can patients expect?

Dr. Dağdelen: "The blood flow to the hair roots is stimulated. Isolated bald or thinning areas can be filled in as a result; thinning hair gains density. There are often hidden hair roots underneath the scalp, which are given the necessary 'push' to sprout again with the unicorn lift. Three sessions are usually required to achieve a satisfactory result "

Which treatment methods help

Expert: Dr. Murat Dağdelen, specialist in plastic and aesthetic surgery and medical director of DiaMonD Aesthetics in Düsseldorf.

How can I tell if I can no longer make progress with dietary supplements and other preparations and that hair loss treatment is the more sensible solution?
"If hair loss continues to progress even a long time after pregnancy and nutrient deficiency has been ruled out as the cause by the GP, those affected should consult a specialist. If patients want to stimulate hair growth in a gentle way, the gentle PRP method is an ideal therapy for stimulating the scalp. However, if the hair falls out irreversibly, we advise patients to have a hair transplant. As a general rule, such procedures should only be carried out post partum."

How do the treatments work and how long do they last?
"On the one hand, specialists use the PRP method. PRP stands for 'platelet-rich plasma'. We obtain this concentrate from the patient's own blood by isolating the platelets using a special centrifugal process. We then inject the body's own blood concentrate directly into the scalp using a fine needle to build up and strengthen the hair root. PRP works both as a stand-alone treatment and in combination with other growth and regeneration-promoting measures. Microneedling is recommended about two weeks later as the ideal complement to PRP. The scalp is additionally stimulated by nutrients that are introduced into the hair roots by microneedling. In order to optimally increase the cell growth of the hair follicles, these procedures are carried out three times in alternation. During a hair transplant, hairs that are resistant to falling out are removed individually (graft) or as a group of hair roots (follicular unit, FU for short) using a fine hollow needle, depending on the quality of the hair roots. After a special vitalization of the hair root, an experienced surgeon plants the follicles in round, lifelike receiving openings, which are also placed at close intervals in the direction of growth using a very fine needle. The procedure usually takes place under local anesthesia and can take between four and six hours. In contrast to the classic strip method, in which entire strips of skin with hair roots are removed from the hairline and divided into individual grafts, we work exclusively with Follicular Unit Extraction, or FUE for short. Although an above-average growth rate and the relatively short time required are among the positive characteristics of the conventional strip method, this is offset by increased scarring and an unnatural direction of growth. This is particularly noticeable in short hairstyles under nine millimeters. With the FUE method, which does not require a scalpel and is not a surgical procedure, we offer patients an almost scar-free technique that makes a transplant undetectable, even with short hair. Other advantages: fast and good healing, no dents on the scalp and a good growth rate." Afterwards, 3 sessions of PRP are also recommended. We then call this type of hair TX biological hair TX.

How much should I expect to pay for a hair loss treatment?
"Patients pay around 400 euros for a one-off PRP treatment and around 200 euros for microneedling. To achieve optimum results, several consecutive sessions should be carried out. For a hair transplant, patients should expect to pay between 6,000 and 12,000 euros, depending on the hair structure, density, color and direction of growth, as well as the size of the area to be treated. The number of hair root units to be transplanted also plays a decisive role."

Contouring, rejuvenating and sculpting with hyaluronic acid & co.

Whether it's reducing wrinkles or adding volume to the lips, giving the face a defined contour or reshaping the nose: Nowadays, a scalpel no longer has to be used. Many treatments can also be carried out minimally invasively using Botox, hyaluronic acid or autologous fat, but which filler is actually suitable for which area?

Wrinkles on the forehead
Botox (botulinum toxin) is usually used in the upper third of the face - i.e. for forehead or frown lines and crow's feet. Dr. Murat Dağdelen, specialist in plastic and aesthetic surgery and founder and Medical Director of DiaMonD Aesthetics, explains the reason for this: "Botox blocks nerve impulses and thus relaxes the muscle. Botox is therefore suitable for wrinkles caused by unconscious and conscious muscle movements, such as expression lines or wrinkles on the forehead, which are often caused by straining to look." The cost of a full face Botox treatment starts at around 500 euros.

"Light filler" makes eyes sparkle
Some people suffer from dark circles under the eyes, which can appear due to hollows in the area under the eyes and the reflection of light. "I usually recommend treatment with a special hyaluronic acid injection for those who find the dark circles disturbing. This is a combination of conventional hyaluronic acid and various nutrients. The treatment adds volume to the area under the eyes and thickens it - the nutrients also improve blood circulation. This makes the area appear brighter. The price for treatment with the so-called "light filler" starts at around 500 euros," says Dr. Dagdelen. Alternatively, autologous fat can also be used, which starts at around 2,000 euros.

Rosy times for your cheeks
Hyaluronic acid is also ideal for adding volume to the cheeks. "Cross-linked 'solid' hyaluronic acid is often used for this part of the face. The active ingredient is available in different degrees of cross-linking: Slightly cross-linked hyaluronic acid is generally used for fine wrinkles, while highly cross-linked hyaluronic acid is injected very deeply and used to fill pronounced skin wrinkles and add volume. In some cases, a combination with a thread lift is advisable," explains the expert. If hyaluronic acid injections are carried out in combination with a thread lift, the price of the treatment starts at around 800 euros per side.

The perfect kissable lips
Hyaluronic acid is also a tried-and-tested method for lip injections, says Dr. Dağdelen: "The substance is particularly suitable as it is a natural component of the body and - when injected correctly - there is no 'rubber dinghy effect'." The effect lasts for around six to twelve months. If you want longer-lasting results, you can also have a treatment with autologous fat. "The fat is first harvested - from small problem areas, for example - and then processed. The autologous fat is then injected into the lip," explains Dr. Dağdelen. The cost of lip augmentation with hyaluronic acid starts at around 500 euros - if autologous fat is used, it starts at around 2,000 euros.

Nose reshaping without surgery
A nose reshaping without using a "hammer and chisel"? Yes, you heard right. Because: small to medium changes to the hump or saddle, the tip of the nose or the bridge can be achieved with a hyaluronic acid injection - within a treatment lasting around five minutes. "The nasal hump can be sculpted and the tip of the nose lifted. It is also possible to refine a wide-looking nose in a simple way," says Dr. Dağdelen. The treatment costs depend on the amount of active ingredient required for the desired result and start at around 500 euros.

Jawline contouring
Many people want a profile with clear contours, which is why treatments in the chin line area are increasingly in demand. As part of the ageing process, the skin loses its elasticity over the years and the jawline sags. The result is altered and less defined facial proportions. Dr. Dağdelen knows the solution: "To give the face more contour, hyaluronic gel is injected along the jawline and then sculpted into the desired shape." The cost of the treatment starts at around 400 euros per side. "In my clinic, I also offer a 'Kylie Jenner package' with chin and underline shaping from around 1,000 euros and a 'Kim Kardashian package' with additional accentuation of the cheeks from around 1,500 euros," adds the expert.

Many roads lead to Rome
"In general, we try to carry out treatments with as little pain as possible, which is why we usually use blunt, rounded cannulas. This avoids excessive injury to the blood vessels and enables gentle treatment," summarizes Dr. Dağdelen. Even if some fillers are considered more suitable for certain areas, it is always advisable for patients to seek individual advice, because: Whether hyaluronic acid, Botox or autologous fat is the right choice for the desired result depends not least on the patient's own physical circumstances, such as the depth of wrinkles. A detailed examination and consultation with a qualified plastic and aesthetic surgeon is therefore crucial.

The most important questions for the treating specialist

Düsseldorf in May 2019. When it comes to cosmetic surgery, many people first think of the classic breast augmentation. But men are also going under the knife more and more often. In addition to smoothing out wrinkles or optimizing washboard abs, they are increasingly expressing a desire for more volume for their 'best piece': the penis. As with any procedure, doctors differentiate between medically indicated, i.e. necessary, surgery and aesthetic enhancement. The latter was the case for pop singer Ennesto Monte. For his dream of perfect virility, the former "Summer House of Stars" contestant put his trust in plastic and aesthetic surgery specialist Dr. Murat Dağdelen. However, the Düsseldorf surgeon and medical director of DiaMonD Aesthetics warns against unrealistic expectations and ultimately even bans sex.

Lengthening or thickening: what's the difference?
"With a penis enlargement, we simply detach the penis from its retaining ligaments and move it forward a little. Strictly speaking, we don't lengthen the penis, we just make parts of it visible that were previously inside the body. Depending on your physical disposition, you can gain up to 3 centimeters in length. However, cutting the penile ligaments can reduce the firmness and slightly flatten the angle of the erection. However, the nerve cords and erectile tissue remain completely unaffected. This wish, which Ennesto Monte initially had, was no longer an option after a detailed consultation.
The second option of gaining a little more mass at the base was more in line with his expectations. With penis augmentation, we simply inject autologous fat tissue from the abdominal or flank region into the penis and achieve up to 4 centimetres more girth. To do this, the previously suctioned fat is centrifuged and the resulting nanofat tissue is injected under the skin of the penis using special cannulas and massaged in so that it is evenly distributed."

What are the risks?
"The risks of thickening are relatively manageable: the body may break down the fat cells over time or they may grow irregularly. However, complications such as swelling, bruising or wound healing disorders, for example due to poor hygiene, are inherent in any surgical procedure. However, I strongly advise against using other substances such as silicone or Vaseline. This can lead to deformation or allergic reactions. Both doctor and patient should therefore carefully weigh up the risks and expectations of the procedure before proceeding."

What do you have to consider after an operation?
"Sexual intercourse should be taboo for about six weeks. This is because the newly implanted fatty tissue does not like friction, tension or pressure. It needs rest in order to grow, which is why sporting activities should be avoided during this period. If you follow all the aftercare measures, you will benefit from a satisfactory result."

How much does a penis enlargement cost?
"Prices vary greatly (would you like to quote prices?), because it depends on the choice of clinic, doctor and method. Even though prices play an important role, I would advise anyone interested to rely on the experience and expertise of the practitioner. Cost should not be a decisive factor. At the end of the day, gut feeling is the deciding factor."

Unicorn lifting gives a youthful complexion

Düsseldorf in April 2019. Fine pores, even skin tone and a healthy glow - when it comes to their skin, many women hope for exactly these attributes. The so-called unicorn lift is specifically designed to fulfill these wishes. "With this new method, we use innovative procedures to obtain a potent anti-ageing agent without additives from the body's own blood," says Dr. Murat Dağdelen, specialist in plastic and aesthetic surgery and medical director of DiaMonD Aesthetics in Düsseldorf. Subsequent microinjections of the highly effective serum into the skin inhibit inflammatory reactions, which are primarily responsible for the ageing process.

Natural fountain of youth

Small wrinkles have an easy time of it over time. This is because the natural ageing process leads to thinner skin, which dries out and loses further elasticity - the youthful glow disappears. This is where the Unicorn Lift comes in, named after the radiant glow of the unicorn - just like in a fairy tale. Effective, albeit less fairytale-like: first, specialists take blood from the patient on the morning of the treatment and prepare it in an incubator for six hours. During this time, the cells in the blood are activated and release anti-inflammatory proteins and growth factors in high concentrations. After subsequent centrifugation, the blood divides into two phases - blood cells and proteins, so-called cytokines. "We use the latter and inject this natural booster into the skin at intervals of around one centimetre using microneedles," explains Dr. Dağdelen, emphasizing: "This reduces inflammation and wrinkles while increasing the skin's moisture content. As we work without additives, we can freeze and reuse blood that has already been collected." To achieve long-lasting results, specialists recommend three to four treatments a year, each two weeks apart. The cost is around 600 euros per session.

Slim and firm thanks to laser technology

Düsseldorf in March 2019. Often diets and work-outs are simply not enough: Fat deposits persist and those affected don't know what to do. In these cases, new liposuction methods using modern laser technology are suitable for gently but effectively optimizing problem areas. "Laser lipolysis has proven its worth for small local tissue accumulations or to optimize the result after classic liposuction," says Dr. Murat Dağdelen, specialist in plastic and aesthetic surgery and medical director of DiaMonD Aesthetics in Düsseldorf.

Heat melts fat deposits

In laser lipolysis, doctors insert a fine probe into the previously anaesthetized area via tiny skin punctures - whether chin, stomach, legs or bottom. The fatty tissue is gently dissolved with the help of thermal energy. Due to the thermal effect, the high-energy light beams stimulate the skin's own collagen production. As a result, laser lipolysis not only reduces fat, but also tightens the subcutaneous tissue. "This is why the laser is also suitable as an effective cellulite treatment," explains Dr. Dağdelen. Compared to surgical liposuction, the minimally invasive method reduces the risk of scarring or injury to surrounding areas during the procedure.

Gentle light

Depending on the laser strength - which can be adjusted to the patient - different results are achieved. Electromagnetic radiation of 1,064 nanometers, for example, already tightens the skin surface. This effect increases at 1,320 nanometers and also causes fat cells to shrink. At 1,440 nanometers, the laser achieves a significant reduction in fat. There are several advantages for the patient compared to the classic surgical method. For example, the minimally invasive procedure is performed on an outpatient basis under local anaesthetic or, if desired, in twilight sleep. "As a rule, smaller problem areas are anaesthetized locally and treated while standing, as cellulite, for example, is more clearly visible this way," says Dr. Dağdelen. Another advantage of this treatment is that the fine skin incisions heal quickly and without scarring, allowing patients to return to their everyday lives immediately. "After the procedure, patients wear a compression garment for four weeks to provide the best possible support for skin regeneration," emphasizes Dr Dağdelen. However, patients should also adjust their lifestyle after lipolysis with the help of exercise and diet in order to achieve lasting success.

Plasma pen for microlifting without surgery

Düsseldorf in March 2019. With increasing age, the skin loses its elasticity and resilience. The forehead and eyebrows in particular begin to sag over time, causing the eye area in particular to suffer. "As soon as the movable part of the eyelid is barely visible, we speak of a so-called drooping eyelid," explains Dr. Murat Dağdelen, specialist in plastic and aesthetic surgery and medical director of DiaMonD Aesthetics in Düsseldorf. Many sufferers perceive this sagging area - whether age-related or genetically inherited - as an aesthetic problem. This is because the look appears tired, often even grumpy. Particularly annoying: make-up disappears in the deep wrinkles. Although special make-up tips or tiny patches placed in the crease of the eyelid open up the eye, they are less suitable as a permanent solution.

Gentle immediate effect

For cosmetic reasons, women in particular often opt for surgical correction. In blepharoplasty, a fine incision is made in the natural crease of the eyelid and fatty tissue and excess skin are removed - usually under general anesthesia, twilight sleep or local anesthesia. Costs around 2,500 euros. However, more and more specialists are now using modern and, above all, gentler methods, such as the plasma pen. In contrast to surgical eyelid lifting, this innovative device, which resembles a pen, works without skin incisions and without direct contact with the skin. "An anaesthetic ointment is applied before the procedure so that the treatment is virtually painless for the patient," emphasizes Dr Dağdelen. The pen is then used, which uses plasma technology to convert the ambient air into a point source of heat. When this concentrated beam of energy hits the skin, tiny particles are detached from the surface. "The small injuries cause the treated area to visibly contract during the application. Doctors refer to this as a 'shrinking effect'. However, deeper layers of tissue are not touched during plasmage, so the skin heals without scarring," explains Dr. Dağdelen. Redness and swelling only occur for a short time after the treatment.

Versatile application

The plasma pen is becoming increasingly popular as a non-invasive alternative to traditional tightening surgery. Not only can drooping eyelids be tightened with an immediate effect, but facial wrinkles and bags under the eyes can also be smoothed out thanks to its use. The pen is even used for tattoo removal and to treat pigmentation marks, scars and other skin changes. "However, this supposedly magical device should be used by experienced hands, otherwise there is a risk of pigment shifts and spots forming on the skin. Patients benefit from a short application time of around 30 minutes and can go home immediately afterwards without any downtime. We also recommend that patients rest for one to two days and only resume sporting activities after five days," emphasizes Dr. Dagdelen. Cost: from around 300 euros depending on the extent of the treatment.

Defy wrinkles with the right tips

Düsseldorf in March 2019. Expression lines are part of the ageing process and reflect life experience. However, more and more women find their forehead wrinkles, crow's feet and the like annoying. "Even gentle treatment measures can effectively stop or transform the signs of time," reports Dr. Murat Dağdelen, specialist in plastic and aesthetic surgery and medical director of DiaMonD Aesthetics in Düsseldorf.

Helpful anti-ageing treatments

Various methods can be used to prevent wrinkles or make them disappear completely. For example, a medical facial cleansing treatment can make the skin more elastic. Experts use hydrofacials to quickly and effectively combat small wrinkles as well as oily skin, acne and blackheads. The procedure combines skin removal (dermabrasion), peeling and cleansing. At the same time, micronutrients and hyaluronic acid are infused into the skin to provide it with the best possible care. "This facial treatment is an even more effective option than pure microdermabrasion or a fruit acid peel. Depending on their skin type, we recommend that patients have hydrofacials performed quarterly," explains Dr. Dağdelen. If this is not enough, Botox, short for botulinum toxin, or hyaluronic acid are effective helpers against fine lines. Botox, for example, provides a natural smoothing effect within a few days through targeted injections into certain facial muscles. "Hyaluronic acid, on the other hand, plumps up the skin and wrinkles disappear," explains Dr. Dağdelen. As the body breaks down both preparations within a year, a follow-up treatment is carried out on request. Caution: If you have too much Botox injected incorrectly, you risk a so-called "frozen face", in which the treated areas of the face freeze visually.

Young to the core

In order to stimulate cell renewal, highly concentrated blood plasma is centrifuged from the patient's own blood, processed and injected into the desired areas of the face in what is known as a vampire lift. In PRP, short for platelet-rich plasma, growth factors are found in high concentrations, which are responsible for cell regeneration and collagen production. There are no intolerances or allergic reactions due to the special treatment with autologous blood.

Minimize wrinkles with the right lifestyle

Water has always been the key to a youthful appearance. This is because sufficient hydration automatically increases the skin's elasticity and resilience. Optimum care also helps to prevent premature signs of ageing. For example, experts advise against excessive sunbathing, as UV radiation not only increases the risk of skin cancer, but also leads to premature wrinkles. A day cream with a sun protection factor - even in winter - not only prevents wrinkles, but also unsightly pigmentation spots. In addition to personal cosmetics, a sufficient intake of vitamins is another anti-ageing aid. Vitamins A, B and C, for example, boost collagen production, support cell generation and supply the body with the necessary nutrients. Unfortunately, a balanced diet often gets lost in the stress of everyday working life, so many people resort to dietary supplements. However, the body only absorbs 35% of these, which is why oral supplements do not deliver the desired results. "That's why we inject patients directly into the bloodstream with a vitamin cocktail tailored to their needs. The body absorbs this so-called power infusion completely and important vitamins, minerals, amino acids and trace elements get to where they are needed," concludes Dr. Dağdelen.

Medical tourism increasingly popular

Düsseldorf in February 2019. Nobody wants to fall ill on vacation. For most people, the idea of spending the best days of the year in hospital is a nightmare. Nevertheless, more and more people are traveling to other countries to undergo voluntary surgery. Dr. Murat Dağdelen, specialist in plastic and aesthetic surgery and medical director of DiaMonD Aesthetics, warns of the dangers of surgery trips.

Saving abroad

In Germany alone, around 250,000 medical tourists from 177 countries seek treatment every year.1 While foreign patients come to Germany because of the good medical care, many Germans are drawn to the Balkan states for inexpensive cosmetic surgery. Liposuction and breast augmentation are among the most popular beauty procedures there. Hair transplants and nose corrections, on the other hand, are mainly carried out in Turkey. "Patients in neighbouring south-eastern countries pay around a third of the German prices, regardless of the risk of complications," explains Dr Dağdelen.

Lurking dangers

The boom in cheap medical tourism is accompanied by a whole series of difficulties. These include, for example, the preferential treatment of international patients, the spread of multi-resistant germs by medical tourists and non-transparent billing due to inadequate legal regulations. Particular problems arise when doctors have to make improvements abroad. Those affected travel a second time, possibly even several times. Patients find it difficult to attend regular follow-up appointments, thus jeopardizing optimal healing and a satisfactory end result. In some cases, doctors refuse to make further corrections after the operation and patients can no longer reach them. In addition, there is no guarantee of material quality abroad. If a procedure fails, it is often difficult to take legal action afterwards - especially in the case of rhinoplasty and breast implants. "Of course, complications don't occur after every cosmetic surgery. However, if it does happen, those affected must take legal action in the country where the procedure was carried out," emphasizes Dr Dağdelen. There is another difficulty here: court proceedings abroad often cause problems. Due to the different languages and legal systems, plaintiffs often fail. "As a rule, the saying 'quality has its price' is true. Patients should therefore not be tempted by cheap offers and prefer to see a doctor they trust in their immediate vicinity," Dr. Dağdelen recommends in conclusion.

What is considered the ideal of beauty in other parts of the world

As we all know, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Therefore, the perception of aesthetics differs from country to country due to culture. Certain ideals in this country are met with a shake of the head elsewhere and some people spare no expense, effort or pain to achieve their wishes. Dr. Murat Dağdelen, specialist in plastic and aesthetic surgery and medical director of DiaMonD Aesthetics in Düsseldorf, provides an insight into global beauty trends.

Beauty trends in the West

Many American trends, such as a slim silhouette, are coming to Europe. While in Germany in particular, a certain body size - so-called model measurements - and natural femininity are considered beautiful, things are a little different in the USA. In the United States, it is considered good form to boast about cosmetic surgery as a status symbol. "From make-up to hair: Perfection is a must here," Dr. Dağdelen knows. At the same time, Americans consider slim, yet very feminine curves with a pronounced rear end to be the ideal. In order to come as close as possible to their idea of aesthetics and beauty, women in the land of unlimited possibilities help themselves to their ideal with sport and surgical procedures such as the Brazilian butt lift.

Asian beauty

Compared to Western regions, the trend in Asia is not for pronounced femininity, but rather girlish childishness. In order to look as young and cute as possible, women there try to transform themselves into manga figures. As a result of this hype, patients want big eyes, narrow, delicate facial features and a high-pitched voice in order to come closer to the drawn model. In Japan, the desire to be diminished even goes so far that people have their teeth deformed by experts, as it is considered beautiful by the population. This is because the Japanese equate "sweetness" with beauty. However, doctors warn against this dental trend, as it has long-term consequences for the teeth and also for the joint position of the spine.

Aesthetics in Africa

For many Africans, a corpulent woman represents wealth and is therefore a widespread ideal of beauty. The ideal often depends on the tribe or region in which the women live. For example, there is a trend for brides to be fattened up with cow's milk and maize porridge before their wedding in order to make them look more attractive to their future husband. But other, far more dangerous ideals are also circulating in Africa. In these fashions, which have been developing for centuries, young girls have their lower incisors pulled out and a hole drilled in their lower lip as a ritual. This allows a plate to be inserted and the large gap between the teeth ensures that it is firmly in place. Experts are also concerned about the very similar trend of the so-called West Coast kids. Their upper incisors are removed for aesthetic reasons. As these procedures sometimes cause irreparable and long-term damage, education is important. "Because beauty exists everywhere, regardless of shape," emphasizes Dr Dağdelen.

Six questions about rhinoplasty

A critical look in the mirror is the best way to examine small and large blemishes. Facial areas such as the nose in particular attract a lot of attention. If the size, width, shape and curvature of the nose do not fit in with the overall appearance, the desire for a correction, also known as rhinoplasty, often arises. "However, in addition to aesthetic factors, health problems are often the decisive factor," says Dr. Murat Dağdelen, specialist in plastic and aesthetic surgery and medical director of DiaMonD Aesthetics. The specialist answers the most important questions below.

1 When is rhinoplasty an option and how does the doctor proceed?

"We carry out classic corrections if there are health restrictions such as a crooked nasal septum or a cleft lip and palate. Experts straighten the nasal septum so that patients can breathe freely again. In this procedure, we remove unwanted cartilage material while retaining the natural support function. In patients who suffer from a deformed nose due to birth defects or accidents, doctors first separate the mucous membranes and cartilage. The nose can then be reshaped using the patient's own bones, usually from the rib. Both procedures can be performed through the nostrils. Depending on the extent of the operation, it is performed on an outpatient or inpatient basis."

2. are there alternative treatments without surgery?

"Yes, with a reduction using hyaluronic acid. We inject the gel-like filler around the hump. By straightening the bridge of the nose, the nose appears smaller. This saves patients an operation and the swelling subsides within an hour after the injection therapy. In order to achieve the best possible result, we show patients possible solutions in advance using a 3D computer program. Patient wishes are also taken into account."

3 How long does healing take and what should patients look out for?

"Depending on the extent of the operation, swelling occurs, which patients relieve with the help of cool packs and which subsides after around two weeks. It then takes another two to four weeks for the nose to fully stabilize. The final result can be seen after around six months. Until then, excessive strain and exertion such as sport should be avoided. Spectacle wearers should also make sure to choose lightweight models in the first eight weeks after treatment, as the bridge of the nose is sensitive to pressure."

4. can visible scars occur?

"No. Because the procedure can be carried out through the nostrils. If the nose is crooked, it is also possible to optimize the nostrils during the correction. This actually requires a small incision on the bridge of the nose, but this does not leave a visible scar after the healing process."

5 At what age should patients undergo the procedure?

"Rhinoplasty should not take place before the age of 18 because the body and therefore the olfactory organ are still developing."

6 Who pays for the treatment?

"If there is a medical necessity, for example in the case of breathing problems that lead to sleep disorders or a cleft lip and palate, health insurance companies cover the costs of the procedure after a thorough diagnosis and the creation of a detailed treatment plan by the doctor. If a doctor performs the correction for aesthetic reasons, the patient usually has to pay for it themselves. In the case of private patients, however, health insurance companies may cover part of the procedure, but this must be clarified on a case-by-case basis."

Expert warns of the dangers of the "reverse tummy tuck"

Despite critical voices, Sophia Vegas stands by her beauty mania. However, the TV starlet is not at all happy with her latest procedure, as the tightening left an unsightly scar - an absolute "no-go" for the body perfectionist. In addition to the visible consequences, there is also a risk of health complications. Expert Dr. Murat Dağdelen, specialist in plastic and aesthetic surgery and medical director of DiaMonD Aesthetics in Düsseldorf, explains below what happens during a "reverse tummy tuck" and what the risks are.

"In a reverse tummy tuck, a reverse abdominoplasty is performed instead of a traditional tummy tuck. This procedure is usually only performed on patients who have larger fat deposits above the belly button due to health problems. Doctors do not make the incision in the bikini line as usual, but below the breast. This means that, in contrast to a conventional tummy tuck, the excess skin is not pulled towards the abdomen but towards the breast, where it is sutured to the underbust crease on the skin of the rib bones in a W-shape. In Sophia Vegas' case, this is exactly where the danger lies. Due to the removal of the four ribs and a previous liposuction procedure, she has a narrower than average waist and the tissue has less space to grow together with the periosteum. In addition, the skin is now put to the test. This is because the increased tension on the surface thins the epidermis and the underbust scar can become larger. In this particular case, rapid stretching can cause noticeable tears in the subcutaneous tissue, known as striae. These unsightly stretch marks, which fade over time, are difficult to get rid of. The latest laser technology stimulates the formation of new cells and reduces the damaged skin structure."

What is behind a so-called mommy makeover

For many couples, having a baby is the fulfillment of a heartfelt wish. But after a birth, some things change in the life of the new family. Sleeping through the night or quiet evenings for two are a thing of the past for the time being. There are also physical changes after pregnancy, such as excess skin, especially on the stomach, sagging breasts or hair loss. Many women suffer from their reflection in the mirror and toy with the idea of a beauty procedure. In fact, many doctors now offer specially designed mommy makeovers. "These are various procedures designed to restore the well-being of mothers," explains Dr. Murat Dagdelen, specialist in plastic and aesthetic surgery and medical director of DiaMonD Aesthetics.

Signs of pregnancy

Of course, the birth of a baby leaves its mark. While some women are self-confident about their body after pregnancy, others are bothered by the changes. Even if the typical weight gain stops and the former body weight is regained over time, other problem areas remain. The breasts in particular - an important sign of femininity for many - suffer from the new circumstances. This is because the mammary gland tissue grows considerably during pregnancy and loses volume again after weaning. This makes the breasts appear saggy. Especially after the birth of several children, many women want their original body back. "While some are interested in a tummy tuck or liposuction, others would rather have a breast augmentation or lift. In general, it is also possible to combine several procedures," explains Dr. Dağdelen. If hormone-induced hair loss occurs during or after pregnancy, autologous blood therapy stimulates hair growth in a natural way and improves the individual hair situation. If necessary, doctors combine this PRP procedure with special revitalization cocktails consisting of vitamins, antioxidants, minerals or trace elements.

Regaining satisfaction

The mommy makeover is not about having a perfect body again after a very short time. It offers dissatisfied women the opportunity to feel comfortable in their own skin again. This is because they often feel ashamed when they undress in front of their partner or show themselves in public places such as the swimming pool. Even their own reflection in the mirror sometimes turns out to be the "enemy". Exercise or diets often don't help either, for example because they don't repair tissue damage caused by the severe stretching of the abdomen during pregnancy. In these cases, a tummy tuck, in which surgeons remove excess skin and fatty tissue, can help. "However, mothers should not underestimate the mommy makeover, as it involves surgical procedures and is not a wellness treatment. As with any surgery, it is important to get good advice and weigh up the risks thoroughly," emphasizes Dr Dağdelen. The treatment also results in downtime of up to six weeks, during which the mothers need physical rest. This is why they often need help with childcare during this time.

With simple tricks to a firm backside

While women in Germany used to attach more importance to a discreet backside, a new trend from the USA and Latin America is now also making itself felt in this country. There, a large bottom has long been considered the ideal of beauty. Now more and more women in Germany also want a more voluminous backside. However, very few people have a "perfect" bottom by nature. Dr. Murat Dağdelen, specialist in plastic and aesthetic surgery and medical director of DiaMonD Aesthetics, knows tricks to train the bottom and reveals how, if necessary, a minor procedure can help achieve the desired effect.

Exercises for a perfect bottom

Even the choice of the right clothing has a positive influence on your body shape. For example, lighter-colored jeans accentuate the buttocks better than darker ones. "The buttocks can actually be enlarged with the help of sport. Because there are muscles there too. Regular training makes them grow and the bottom gains volume," explains Dr. Dağdelen. The classic exercise for an effective butt workout: squats. To do this, stand with your legs hip-width apart and squat down slowly. Stretch your bottom backwards as if you were going to sit down. Then straighten up again and repeat about 15 times. If you prefer to exercise inconspicuously in the office or on the train, place your feet on the floor in a sitting position and tense both buttocks. Hold this position briefly, then relax again and repeat several times.

Minor intervention for more volume

If targeted training does not deliver the desired result, cosmetic surgery is also an option. "Although it is possible to insert silicone implants into the buttocks, I recommend a so-called Brazilian butt lift, as it is minimally invasive and gentler," says Dr. Dağdelen. During the treatment, the doctor first removes the patient's own fat from other parts of the body, such as the stomach or thighs, using liposuction. The advantage of this method is that while the bottom gains volume, other problem areas are reduced. The body's own fat is then processed and used to shape and contour the buttocks. Doctors use small cannulas to inject it specifically into the desired areas of the body. Patients are socially acceptable again immediately after the treatment, but should wear compression pants for four to six weeks while the fat heals in the right place. It is now possible to increase the size of the buttocks without injecting autologous fat. "This is particularly beneficial for people who don't have enough fat deposits. Instead, we plump up the buttocks with a filler made from saline solution and polyamide gel," explains Dr. Dağdelen. In contrast to autologous fat, however, the body breaks down the filler again over the course of three to five years.

Gentle wrinkle smoothing with a new lifting method

Everyone gets them at some point, even if very few people are happy about them: wrinkles. To counteract the signs of time, anti-ageing creams can initially help, but later Botox or hyaluronic acid are often used to fill in wrinkles. If these methods no longer achieve the desired result, there is now a minimally invasive option known as thread lifting to smooth the face and reduce wrinkles. "Instead of using barbs, a new version of this lift works with a structure of small cones, ensuring a gentle procedure and a natural facial expression," explains Dr. Murat Dağdelen, specialist in plastic and aesthetic surgery and medical director of DiaMonD Aesthetics.

Minimally invasive application

Many people shy away from a lift as they associate this treatment with major surgery. With a thread lift, however, doctors simply insert thin fibers under the skin using small cannulas. Depending on the area of application, two or more such threads are used. These have a structure of small cones that lift the tissue and pull the skin upwards or to the side, thereby tightening it. The threads also stimulate the production of collagen. This creates new connective tissue, which further plumps up the treated area of the body. "In the past, gold threads with barbs were often used, but nowadays we use absorbable materials made from polylactic acid and glycolic acid, which break down independently in the body after ten to twelve months. However, the tightening effect remains for up to two years thanks to the new connective tissue," explains Dr. Dağdelen. The procedure takes between 30 and 60 minutes. As there are only two small punctures per thread inserted, the treatment can be carried out under local anesthetic. The lifting effect is immediate and the final result can be seen after two to three weeks as the threads resorb. After the treatment, patients are usually able to return to social life immediately. Slight swelling subsides within a very short time. However, patients should avoid sport and sunbathing in the first few days after the lift.

Versatile use

A thread lift is suitable for wrinkles that can no longer be treated with Botox and hyaluronic acid. The method is particularly suitable for the so-called nasolabial fold between the nose and corner of the mouth, but also for neck and forehead wrinkles as well as sagging cheeks. However, a thread lift is not only suitable for the face; upper arms, breasts and buttocks are also possible treatment areas. Anyone interested should consult a specialist to find out whether the method is suitable for their case. "Even if it is a minimally invasive procedure, an experienced doctor is the best choice for the treatment. This is because if the stitches are not placed optimally, asymmetrical facial features can result," Dr. Dağdelen warns in conclusion.

Gentle methods for the perfect kissable mouth

International Kissing Day is celebrated on July 6. The lips in particular naturally play a major role in kissing and stand for sensuality. However, many people are unhappy with their lips and find them too thin. They use ingenious make-up tricks to help them look better, in order to achieve at least a short-term effect. However, this does not, of course, change the actual shape of the kissable mouth. "In fact, even a small cosmetic procedure can help to give the lips more volume," says Dr. Murat Dağdelen, specialist in plastic and aesthetic surgery and medical director of DiaMonD Aesthetics.

Full lips

When plumping up the lips, doctors use small needles to insert special filling materials under the skin. Two different substances are used for this. Hyaluronic acid is considered to be well tolerated, as it is also produced by the body itself. It binds water and thus gives the lips more volume. However, the body breaks down the filler material again within six to twelve months, so to achieve a lasting result, it is necessary to keep having touch-ups. Treatment with autologous fat is also possible. "We first remove tissue from the patient's abdomen or thighs during liposuction. We process this and can then use it to sculpt the lips," explains Dr. Dağdelen. The advantage of this method is that the body does not break down the fatty tissue, so the effect lasts for several years. In both cases, the treatment is performed on an outpatient basis and takes around 15 minutes to an hour. When injecting autologous fat tissue, liposuction is also performed under local or general anesthesia. After the treatment, patients are immediately fit for social life again. The lips often feel a little swollen for a few days.

Natural kissable mouth

There are two things to bear in mind so that the result does not look unnatural. "Normally, the lower lip is about one and a half times the size of the upper lip. These proportions should also be maintained during surgery. If you want a fuller upper lip, you should still have your lower lip plumped up a little," advises Dr. Dağdelen. It is also advisable to maintain the so-called cupid's bow, i.e. the curve of the upper lip. If too much filler is injected, this will disappear and the result will look unnatural. For this reason, those interested should slowly approach their ideal lip shape and seek good advice to ensure that their kissable mouth looks perfect in the end.

Ways to the perfect beach figure

In summer, many people long to cut a good figure on the beach, because swimming trunks and bikinis mercilessly reveal all their weak points. Most sun worshippers' dream body therefore looks flat, firm and crisp. But sometimes sport and dietary changes are not enough to achieve the desired goals. "Then cosmetic procedures can help those affected and provide a better quality of life," says Dr. Murat Dağdelen, specialist in plastic and aesthetic surgery and medical director of DiaMonD Aesthetics.

Flat stomach

For most women and men, lifebuoys and love handles are not part of a flawless beach figure, which is why they start dieting and exercising in good time. But sometimes the love handles are more stubborn than expected. "In these cases, liposuction, i.e. the suctioning out of excess fat cells, is suitable. We first inject a so-called tumescent solution into the subcutaneous fatty tissue. It anaesthetizes and ensures that the cells can be more easily suctioned out of the body in the next step using tiny cannulas," explains Dr. Dağdelen. Patients are under general anesthesia during the procedure and feel a kind of muscle soreness after the procedure, which passes after a few days. Swimming, beach volleyball and other sporting activities are no longer a problem after around six weeks. However, those who have their fat deposits removed with the help of cryolipolysis can get back to work more quickly. Low temperatures are used to freeze the fat cells from the outside, thereby destroying them. As a result, the body later breaks down the excess tissue on its own. There is no downtime for patients with this method.

Tight arms

The beach look reveals one of the most common problem areas for many people: the so-called angular arms. Weak connective tissue causes the skin on many people's upper arms to hang loose. Dieting rarely helps here, as the problem is not excess fat but sagging skin. However, a small procedure can help. "We make a small incision from the armpit to the elbow to remove the excess skin tissue and then tighten the upper arm. As the incision is made on the inside of the arm, any scars are barely visible later on," says Dr. Dağdelen. Doctors also use the same method to treat thighs if necessary. After a rest period of three to four weeks, nothing stands in the way of going to the beach.

Crisp bottom

Bikinis and swimming trunks also put a special focus on the buttocks. In contrast to the stomach, however, women in particular often find their buttocks too flat. Many women therefore opt for a Brazilian butt lift in order to achieve plumper buttocks. "In this procedure, we remove diet-resistant fatty tissue from the abdomen or legs, as with liposuction. After preparation, this can be used to shape the buttocks. In the final step, we transplant the tissue into the buttocks using small cannulas," explains Dr. Dağdelen. However, before patients dress their new buttocks in swimwear, special compression pants are used for four to six weeks to support the healing process of the fatty tissue. After just one week, however, patients are able to socialize again.

Under the knife for the digital dream photo

Stars and starlets present themselves on social networks with flawless bodies and perfect styling. Retouching, color correction and finally a filter create the ideal external image on Instagram, Snapchat and co. However, for some, these techniques are no longer enough to score points on their social media accounts. Recently, mainly young women have been going under the knife to actually look like their retouched image. Dr. Murat Dağdelen, a specialist in plastic and aesthetic surgery and medical director of DiaMonD Aesthetics, calls this worrying development "selfinissism" - a combination of selfie and narcissism.

Younger and younger - more and more

Triggered by Instagram stars such as Kylie Jenner and Bella Hadid, who are considered role models for the younger generations and appear on many glossy covers, the disastrous optimization mania from the USA is now spilling over into Germany. "In the meantime, the concept of looking pretty has shifted to an abstruse idea," says Dr. Dağdelen. Most of the retouched images of these patients show huge bamboo eyes, strikingly narrow facial features and lips the size of inflatable boats behind a beauty filter. "Many surgeons find it worrying that the age of the women, who feel increasingly uncomfortable in their own skin due to the comparison with their idols, is constantly decreasing. They are often no longer satisfied with small changes, but demand that the entire face be optimized to an extreme degree," reports Dr. Dağdelen. But not all dreams and wishes can be fulfilled or make sense.

Between illusion and reality

Although modern cosmetic surgery offers various solutions to address medical and aesthetic concerns, patients should always seek surgery for legitimate reasons. "This is the case, for example, if a crooked nasal septum makes breathing difficult or if a nose that is too large causes exclusion by others. Both causes can be the reason for a surgical correction, as they are psychologically very stressful," explains the beauty specialist from Düsseldorf. However, such motives are not present in the case of "self-finissism". Rather, "selffinisstas" actively search for supposed flaws such as asymmetrical eyebrows or a prominent nose by comparing themselves with the unrealistic image of their idols. "Whether patients are exploring their own identity or hoping for relief from the media and social pressure to look good cannot be generalized. However, a psychologist is responsible for helping them, not a surgeon," emphasizes Dr. Dağdelen. This is why the expert sometimes sends potential patients back home if they have reasonable doubts. The many possibilities offered by Photoshop, filters and the like in particular blur the boundaries between desire and reality, as the appearance of a photo can be changed with just a few clicks. This is why dreams are often shattered during the consultation, as the extreme changes that are possible with modern image editing cannot be realized in reality. "I only consider surgical treatment if I think the complaints and wishes are understandable and an operation is in the right proportion to the actual suffering. Because operations always involve risks that many girls simply ignore," concludes the prominent cosmetic surgeon.

Expert answers ten questions about hair transplants

Soccer legend Jürgen Klopp, Olympic champion Robert Harting, Hollywood great John Travolta, record goalscorer Wayne Rooney and singer Elton John have all undergone hair transplants. Now Prince Harry from England is also undergoing this procedure in order to start his marriage with a full head of hair. According to reports, the cost is around 57,000 euros. Dr. Murat Dağdelen, specialist in plastic and aesthetic surgery and medical director of DiaMonD Aesthetics, treats celebrities with bald heads and explains the most important facts about a full head of hair.

1. how does a hair transplant work?

"During a hair transplant, hairs that are resistant to falling out are removed individually (graft) or as a group of hair roots (follicular unit, FU for short) using a fine hollow needle, depending on the hair root quality. After a special vitalization of the hair root, an experienced surgeon plants the follicles in round, lifelike receiving openings, which are also placed at close intervals in the direction of growth using a very fine needle. The procedure usually takes place under local anesthesia and can take between four and six hours. We often schedule a second appointment, as the modern FUE method is more complex. This is to the benefit of the patients, who profit from a natural hair fall and shorter regeneration time."

2 Which method is offered today?

"In contrast to the classic strip method, in which entire strips of skin with hair roots are removed from the hairline and divided into individual grafts, we work exclusively with Follicular Unit Extraction, or FUE for short. Although an above-average growth rate and the relatively short time required are among the positive characteristics of the former procedure, this is offset by increased scarring and an unnatural direction of growth. This is particularly noticeable with short hairstyles under xy centimeters. With the FUE method, which does not require a scalpel and is not a surgical procedure, we offer patients an almost scar-free technique that makes transplantation undetectable even with short hair. Other advantages: fast and good healing, no dents in the scalp and a good growth rate."

3 Who is a hair transplant suitable for?

"For both sexes. However, male patients make up the higher percentage in order to conceal bald patches such as a high forehead, receding hairline or tonsure. More and more women are now interested in hair transplants, not only on the head but also for the eyebrows - for a variety of reasons. These can be medical, illness-related reasons or aesthetic, for example if the desire for bushier eyebrows arises."

4. is there an age limit?

"Basically, it is the individual hair situation and not age that determines whether an aesthetic hair appearance can be achieved. What is the family history, are there medical or hereditary causes for the loss? For young patients under the age of 25, a specialist should always be consulted. In principle, however, it can be said that the earlier patients decide to have a hair transplant, the better the regrowth rates. At an older age, we have to reimplant more often."

5 What does a transplant cost?

"Depending on the hair structure, density, color and direction of growth, as well as the size of the area to be treated, patients can expect to pay between €6,000 and €12,000. The number of hair root units to be transplanted also plays a decisive role."

6. is the treatment painful?

"No. After a short local anesthetic, patients feel nothing of the procedure. They are responsive the entire time and can listen to music or eat something during the breaks if they wish. Most report a relaxed situation, similar to a visit to the hairdresser."

7 What do I have to consider after the treatment?

"It is important to avoid direct sunlight for around four to six weeks, otherwise the grafts will dry out. Sport is possible after just two to three weeks."

8. how long does it take to see the first results?

"Although the first treatment results are immediately visible, the hair will initially fall out again. This is a completely normal process, as hair growth takes place gradually. First comes the resting phase, in which the roots have time to grow. After around three to five months, natural hair growth sets in and the overall appearance stabilizes from week to week."

9. do I have to take vacation?

"From a medical point of view, you are fully fit for work and social life again after around 24 hours. However, many patients prefer to have one or two days off and use the weekend to take it easy physically."

10. is the result permanent?

"As a rule, yes."
