Bleaching dark circles
There are now a number of methods to lighten dark circles under the eyes. What is the difference to bleaching?
Dr. Dağdelen: "There are various methods to lighten dark circles. The most popular are creams that can be used at home and contain lightening ingredients such as vitamin C and niacinamide. However, these creams are usually not really effective as the dosages are usually very low. You can certainly find products with higher dosages online, but I would advise against using them yourself as the area around the eyes is very sensitive. There is also laser therapy, for example, which removes blood vessels and permanent pigment deposits and can therefore eliminate dark circles under the eyes.
However, this method is not completely risk-free, as it can cause inflammation and irritate the eyes and surrounding skin due to the laser beams. I recommend a special peeling series called 'MELine'. This contains various brightening ingredients such as phytic acid and ascorbic acid. The various ingredients are much more concentrated than in products you can buy in drugstores or perfumeries. The effect that can be achieved with the product is correspondingly more effective. Due to its composition, however, it is not freely available for sale and may only be used by medical specialists and institutes under medical supervision."
What are the advantages of dark circles bleaching compared to other methods?
Dr. Dağdelen: "An important advantage here is the medical supervision and treatment during the therapy. In contrast to the simple application of other whitening creams, with the
MELine method, the patient is medically guided through the process from start to finish. The skin receives preparation and follow-up treatment to ensure that the treatment is particularly gentle. With 'do-it-yourself' creams for home use, the preparation is applied to the skin without pre-treatment or warning, which can subsequently lead to inflammation or intolerance.
A laser method usually leaves a small, unsightly crust on the treated area. With the MELine method, the patient is immediately fit for social life again, as it is a step-by-step treatment that leaves no residue."
How does the treatment proceed?
Dr. Dağdelen: "The treatment consists of two parts: a medical application and a subsequent 'home care' therapy. In the medical treatment, a peeling with depigmenting properties is applied in two steps. In the first step, chloroacetic acid and phytic acid are applied to the skin. After the preparation has dried, retinal and ascorbic acid are applied. Finally, associated skin care products and a BB cream, which moisturizes the skin, are massaged into the skin.
For follow-up treatment at home, the patient receives four different mild care products that continue the therapy and further lighten the dark circles. These include a BB cream, a roller stick and drops. After around four weeks, the results are checked again in the practice. If necessary, the medical treatment can then be repeated to optimize the result."
What costs can be expected?
Dr. Dağdelen: "The cost of a treatment starts at around 400 euros. If the whitening effect is not sufficient after the first treatment, it can be repeated up to two more times."
Does the treatment involve risks and side effects?
Dr. Dağdelen: "Of course, peeling can also cause skin irritation and irritation. However, this risk is minimized by medical supervision and pre- and post-treatment with various care products. Nevertheless, care should be taken to ensure that the treatment is carried out by an experienced doctor, as the product should be applied and dosed exactly as prescribed."
