CO₂ LASER TREATMENT FOR FIRMER SKIN

Surgeon for CO₂ laser treatment

Treatment options with the CO₂ laser

CO₂ lasers are used in skin cosmetic treatment methods to ensure healthy and beautiful skin. They are mostly used to treat acne scars, stretch marks, surgical scars, skin tightening, wrinkles, skin irregularities and pigmentation marks. Women usually suffer for years as a result of minor visual blemishes or stretch marks, but a CO₂ laser treatment can quickly eliminate the discomfort and restore their zest for life. However, laser therapy not only helps women, but also men, to regain more self-confidence.

Dr. Murat Dağdelen will be happy to advise you on your individual treatment options.

Services

The CO₂ laser can be used to correct skin irregularities such as pigment-damaged, scarred or large-pored skin or stretched areas. Smooth skin and permanent hair removal can be achieved quickly using professional laser technology. The carbon dioxide-based laser does not cause any visible damage to the skin surface, but gently smoothes and firms the skin areas. At the same time, the formation of new collagen and skin cells is stimulated.

The CO₂ laser guarantees revolutionary and almost painless wrinkle treatment, natural skin tightening and gentle removal of skin blemishes. After the treatment, your skin is even again and the connective tissue regains the necessary firmness and tautness. Even the first treatment shows visible results.

How the CO₂ laser works

The fractionated CO₂ laser enables laser treatment with minimal side effects. As the term carbon dioxide laser suggests, it is an electrically excited laser that uses carbon dioxide (CO₂) as the laser medium. It is therefore also known as a gas laser. Electromagnetic waves in the megahertz range are emitted using a combination of several gases – carbon dioxide (CO₂), nitrogen (N2) and helium (He).

The CO₂ laser in treatment

The fractionated carbon dioxide laser offers a modern, effective treatment method in the field of aesthetic laser medicine and treats the skin with microscopically small treatment zones (holes), between which there are untreated skin bridges, from which rapid healing takes place. This causes microscopic injuries approx. 1-2 mm deep, which look like honeycombs. During the treatment you can already see how the skin and tissue contract. Thanks to this process, fractional lasering with the gas laser is less painful, the healing time is shorter and the side effects are significantly lower than with other laser procedures.

During treatment, the CO₂ laser achieves a higher heat in the neighboring tissue and emits more heat into the tissue. More heat means that the process is dry and without bleeding, there is also a lower risk of infection and the nerve endings are better sealed, which reduces post-operative pain. Another advantage is that the laser energy penetrates deep into the epidermis to stimulate collagen and tighten the skin.

What do I need to consider before and after the treatment?

Careful preparation before CO₂ laser treatment is essential to achieve the best treatment result. The skin is prepared for the operation at least 4 weeks before treatment with the CO₂ laser. To do this, you must prepare the skin with medical creams at least 2 weeks in advance and protect the skin from sunlight (SPF 50+) before treatment. In addition, patients must take herpes prophylaxis (Acyclovir), even if they have never had herpes.

The skin shows slight redness and swelling after the treatment, which is normal for the healing process. In the days that follow, small crusts form which fall off over time. This can take up to 10 days. The affected skin areas should therefore be cooled and cared for for a few days.

After CO₂ laser treatment, the skin must be carefully treated for at least 2 weeks to prevent scarring and hyperpigmentation. Medicated creams are also used for this purpose. During the healing process, you must not apply any make-up and should refrain from using non-medicated, perfumed lotions. Follow the practitioner’s instructions to achieve the best possible healing results. You should also avoid any exposure to the sun for 4 weeks. You should also avoid hot environments such as saunas and steam baths during this period.
